December Insights 2023

As the year ends, we focus on significant events or personalities from the past 12 months. We could introduce a ‘Word of the Year’ award for inspection. Nominations include the word ‘Consistency’. While it’s good to have excellent individual curriculum programmes, if the quality is inconsistent across the range, the quality of education and overall effectiveness grades will likely reflect this.

The starting point for consistency should be the quality assurance process, which leaders must analyse. Not copied from others but a deep-rooted set of organisational principles that drive quality. Most providers have completed their SAR by the end of December, but how honest is it? Will it withstand rigorous testing by inspectors? Does the report fully reflect what inspectors will see and hear?
