An update on Ofsted inspection outcomes
At the end of September, our six-month data analysis indicates providers graded inadequate and requiring improvement are increasing, with over 28% of inspections from April to September appearing in this category. There is a greater focus on retention data and outcomes in more recent inspections. We know there is also government scrutiny of achievement rates, which will be reflected in future inspections. However, career advice remains the most frequently reoccurring area of improvement and features in 40% of published reports for this period.
Initiatives for career advice, such as providers appointing specialist career staff or assigning new team responsibilities, are also being recognised. The term impartial career advice also appears, and its a fine line for employer providers and levy-paying employers. It may be time we looked at this differently.
