Nominees to be allowed in schools

The Fellowship of Inspection Nominees (FIN) secured another major policy win this week when @Ofsted announced as part of its reforms that every school in England will be asked to nominate a senior staff member to “work closely with the inspection team” in addition to the headteacher. This followed Ofsted crediting FIN in its Big Listen consultation response on key changes for the FE and skills sector.

FIN proposed in January that schools should be allowed nominees in an opinion piece by @Kerry Boffey for @Schools Week (Ofsted already has a proven model of better inspections) and the editor of the publication acknowledged the article’s impact by linking his news report of the Ofsted announcements to it – see below. In her article, Kerry wrote that “sharing the burden of inspection has proven over time to be highly successful in FE settings, and there is no obvious reason why it can’t be replicated in schools”. FIN looks forward to this important reform being implemented.
